Complete The Trio
10/27/2008
I'm anxious to welcome a trio of Southern Democratic freshmen to Capitol Hill in just a few months.
We've already raised over $12,000 for two fine challengers -- Ronnie Musgrove in Mississippi and Kay Hagan in North Carolina -- but there's one more exciting Southern Democrat running for the Senate that I wanted you to know about: Jim Martin of Georgia.
Jim's poll numbers are surging as he reaches out to Georgians hungry for change. In fact, four polls released over the past week show him within just two points of his Republican opponent, Senator Saxby Chambliss.
That's a statistical dead heat. Now, with our help, Jim Martin can charge to victory on November 4. It's a pick-up opportunity we cannot pass up.
Please contribute to Jim Martin's campaign in Georgia -- and complete the trio of Southern Democrats our community helps elect to the U.S. Senate on November 4!
Jim Martin is well-known and well-liked in Georgia, having run for Lieutenant Governor in 2006 after serving in the state legislature for nearly two decades. Jim has spent his career fighting for Georgians -- as a soldier, lawyer, and public servant.
As a young man, Jim Martin overcame polio to serve as a soldier in Vietnam. He'll always be a strong voice for America's veterans in the U.S. Senate, having called the Bush-Cheney Administration's failure to provide for our returning soldiers and their families "nothing short of disgraceful."
When Jim returned from Vietnam he earned two law degrees, training he used to become a legal aid lawyer and chairman of the Judiciary Committee in Georgia's House of Representatives. He will work with me in the Senate to protect the Bill of Rights and restore the U.S. Constitution to its rightful place as the supreme law of the land.
Jim Martin is probably best known for helping to create a program that provides health care to thousands of Georgia's children. In the Senate, he'll work to expand the State Children's Health Insurance Program (S-CHIP), which his opponent and the Bush-Cheney Administration have blocked for over a year.
Please help Jim Martin continue to fight for the people of Georgia by making a contribution to his campaign for U.S. Senate!
You and I know how important it is to gain 60 Democratic seats in the U.S. Senate. It'll mean the difference between advancing President Obama's agenda of change, or putting up with two more years of right-wing filibusters. And with your help, Jim Martin could very well be the candidate that makes 60 Democratic votes possible.
Thank you for rushing a contribution to Jim Martin's campaign today, and for your continued support of all our promising Green Mountain PAC challengers.
Sincerely,

Patrick Leahy U.S. Senator
P.S. With just 8 days to go before Election Day, now's the time to act. Please contribute to Jim Martin's campaign today -- and make him the 60th Democratic vote in the U.S. Senate come January.
