Kay's the Way to 60

I am thrilled that Green Mountain PAC supporters have already contributed more than $7,000 to Ronnie Musgrove's Senate campaign, helping him keep his powerful new TV ad on the air in Mississippi.

Now there's another promising Southern Democrat running for the Senate in North Carolina that I hope you'll support as well: Kay Hagan. Since entering the race 13 points behind her Republican opponent, Senator Elizabeth Dole, recent polls now show Kay with a narrow 5-point lead. She is running a fantastic grassroots campaign in a dynamic battleground state -- one where Barack Obama has inspired a new wave of energy for Democrats.

But Kay Hagan now faces a multi-million-dollar onslaught of false attacks from her opponent and extreme-right wing groups -- attacks coming in the form of television ads, glossy flyers, and even robo-calls to North Carolina voters, all of which could easily undo Kay's recent surge in the polls.

Please contribute to Kay Hagan, another promising Southern Democrat, and help us gain a filibuster-proof Democratic majority in the U.S. Senate that can accomplish the change that North Carolinians and all Americans want and deserve.

Kay Hagan has served the people of North Carolina as a state senator for nearly a decade, developing a reputation for reaching across the aisle to invest in 21st Century jobs, improve public education, expand access to health care, and oppose the Bush-Cheney administration's assault on the middle class. Kay Hagan is a well-respected leader in her state, and I'm proud to support her.

Kay is facing Republican incumbent Senator Elizabeth Dole, who over the past six years has voted with the Bush-Cheney administration 92 percent of the time. Senator Dole has toed the administration's line on Iraq, tax cuts for the rich, and opposing a woman's right to choose -- among many other critical issues.

Every major North Carolina newspaper that has made an endorsement in this race has come out in support of Kay Hagan. And for good reason. As the Winston-Salem Journal recently wrote, "While in Washington, Dole has reserved her best efforts for issues of importance to the national Republican Party and the Bush administration, not North Carolinians."

North Carolinians are demanding new leadership, and that's what they'll get with Kay Hagan. Please join me in supporting Kay Hagan and help her deliver the change her state -- and our country -- so desperately needs.
