Leahy Works to Boost Funding for Boys, Girls Clubs

WASHINGTON - Sen. Patrick Leahy is continuing to fight proposed cuts in funding for Boys and Girls Clubs.

Leahy joined with Utah Senator Orrin Hatch to restore half of a proposed funding cut for the clubs, raising the total to $75 million.

An earlier version of a budget bill covering the Justice Department and other agencies would have cut funding for the clubs by $30 million, and President George W. Bush has called for cutting the funding entirely.
